New Jersey Nets
The Nets are dedicated to improving the quality of life in the metropolitan area by supporting programs and initiatives that focus on youth, education and strengthening communities. By feeding those in need, hosting holiday parties for foster kids and their families, sponsoring basketball camps for underprivileged kids and providing interaction with players at community organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs, the Nets have touched the lives of many.
TEAM PROGRAMS
The Nets Passport to Fitness Program encourages youngsters to participate in fun fitness and nutrition activities. Once a month during the season, Nets player Devin Harris takes 30 kids from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bergen, Morris and Passaic on a different activity. Activities include hiking, fitness clinic, cooking class, bowling and indoor rock climbing.
The Nets Foundation is the non-profit philanthropic arm of Nets Basketball. The Nets Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the metropolitan area by supporting programs and initiatives that focus on youth, education and strengthening communities.
Nets Basketball Development was created to foster relationships between youth athletics, schools, and community centers and establish a greater awareness of Nets Basketball while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, good health, and a greater understanding of the game of basketball. Nets Basketball Development has hosted and will continue to host several camps and clinics throughout the year.
PLAYER OUTREACH
Jordan Farmar
In 2009, Farmar traveled to Israel to run basketball camps for Israeli and Palestinian children in association with the Peres Peace Center.
