Orlando Magic
The Orlando Magic Community Relations department focuses on developing children by investing our charitable resources to create opportunities and produce positive change in our community in the areas of health and wellness, the arts and education. The Orlando Magic Youth Fund, a fund of the McCormick Foundation, is committed to helping every child in Central Florida realize their full potential, especially those most at risk, by supporting programs and partnerships that empower families and change lives. The Orlando Magic’s mission is to be world champions on and off the court, delivering legendary moments every step of the way.
TEAM PROGRAMS
Blessings in a Backpack is designed to feed elementary school children whose families qualify for the federal free and reduced meal program and may not have any or enough food on the weekends. Better test scores, improved reading skills, positive behavior, improved health and increased attendance have all been attributed to the success of this program.
The Magic host their Annual Orlando Magic Championship for Charity Golf Tournament to raise money for the Orlando Magic Youth Fund (OMYF). The event draws more than 200 golf participants along with Magic players and talent, one-of-a-kind Magic auction items and an awards luncheon.
The Orlando Magic have created a partnership with “Rock and Wrap it Up!” to take leftover food after Magic home games and deliver to shelters and food banks. Rock and Wrap it Up! is an international volunteer food recovery service and think tank, aiding in the fight to alleviate hunger in the United States and around the world. This program also falls in line with the Magic’s company-wide ‘green’ initiative by creating less waste.
